What makes our garden grow? Our local Girl Scout troop will again tend to the herb garden at the William Miller House in spring 2018, their third year of caring for it. They resurrected it so beautifully from the older members of their troop who installed it many years ago. We are so proud of their efforts and dedication!

To help celebrate the nostalgia of the season: our new display in The Port Jefferson library, TO GRANDMOTHER’S HOUSE WE GO. We share the locked show case with the Port Jeff Historical Society, six months each. Our occupancy has run from Sept. to Feb., sharing items of interest from the past.

This lecture will be presented by Arthur Billadello. He is a past President of the Three Village Historical Society and is still very active in the Society. He gives walking tours of the Setauket Village Historic District. He provides fourth grade Long Island history programs on site and in schools from Queens to East Hampton. Children are invited to bring their prewritten letter for Santa to the old Miller Place Post Office, 75 North Country Road, Miller Place. Postman Pete will bundle the letters for the North Pole! Visit the historic c. 1720 William Miller House for refreshments and caroling led by local high school students. Each child will receive a letter from Santa delivered to the home shortly thereafter.

Society board members Antoinette Donato and Edna Giffen represented the Miller Place-Mt.Sinai Historical Society at the Comsewogue Library Anniversary celebration on Saturday, Oct. 14th. Filming of “One Life to Give” Sponsored by the Times Beacon Record News Media. Join the wave of support for our filming of the Revolutionary War Battle of Long Island, the critically important relationship between Benjamin Tallmadge and Nathan Hale and the founding of the version of our nation’s founding, is currently being shot at local locations and will be shown in multiple venues by mid-September and the coming academic year.
